Standard dose: 500–1,000 ml in 1,000 L water for 3–5 days.
Not for use in laying hens.

Product Introduction

DoxyGen 10® is a tetracycline antibiotic containing doxycycline as the active ingredient, formulated as an oral solution for broilers, pullets, layers, turkeys, ornamental birds, pigeons, dogs, cats, and exotic animals. It is indicated for the prevention, control, and treatment of bacterial infections sensitive to doxycycline.

Composition

  • Each liter contains 100 g doxycycline (as hyclate).

Indications

Treatment of bacterial infections sensitive to doxycycline, including:

  • CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease)
  • Infectious synovitis
  • Colibacillosis
  • Pasteurellosis (Fowl cholera)
  • Salmonellosis
  • Infectious coryza
  • Staphylococcal and streptococcal infections
  • Necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens
  • Respiratory diseases such as ehrlichiosis and other tick-borne diseases
  • Chlamydophila infections
  • Chlamydial conjunctivitis in felines
  • Mycoplasmosis
  • Psittacosis
  • Chlamydiosis
  • Rickettsiosis

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage for DoxyGen 10®
Target Species Dosage / Duration
Poultry & Turkeys 10–20 mg pure doxycycline per kg body weight daily
Equivalent to 500–1,000 ml DoxyGen 10® in 1,000 liters of drinking water
For 3–5 days
Psittacines (Parrots) 15–50 mg pure doxycycline per kg body weight
Equivalent to 0.15–0.5 ml DoxyGen 10® every 24 hours
For 3–5 days
Pigeons & Passerines 200–500 mg pure doxycycline
Equivalent to 2–5 ml DoxyGen 10® in 1 liter of drinking water
Every 24 hours for 3–5 days
Dogs, Cats & Exotic Animals 10 mg pure doxycycline per kg body weight
Equivalent to 0.1 ml DoxyGen 10® per kg body weight
Every 24 hours

Duration and dosage may vary depending on disease type and severity. Administration should be under veterinary supervision.

Contraindications

  • Use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption is prohibited.
  • Use in breeding birds during the reproductive period is prohibited.
  • Use during tooth development may cause tooth discoloration.
  • Use in pregnant animals or those with esophagitis/dysphagia is contraindicated.

Drug Interactions

  • Concurrent use with aminoglycosides, citric acid, antacids, calcium, magnesium, or iron may reduce absorption.
  • Phenytoin and phenobarbital increase doxycycline metabolism, reducing plasma levels.

Withdrawal Period

Poultry & Turkeys: 5 days

Precautions

  • Medicated solution must be consumed within 24 hours.

Storage

  • Store in a dry place at 15–30°C, protected from light and freezing.

Is use in laying hens permitted?

Prohibited in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.

Can it be used with mineral supplements?

No — Ca/Mg/Fe/Zn cations reduce doxycycline absorption.
